Well the annual Rust In Perth fest last weekend was an absolute corker, with all the bands of varying metal styles putting on great shows, and the stand up comedy sets were an awesome inclusion and interesting intermission. Congrats to Paul Di Scerni and all involved in the organisation, and to all that performed.
The Scourge reunion was definitely a highlight - I'm sure people that had seen them before may have thought there would be a bit of tongue-in-cheekness to it (which there was always going to be) but I was really impressed. It actually sounded like they hadn't stopped, and were better than ever!
For those that had the misfortune to miss the gig, or those interested, SG O'Callaghan has done a great review and very comprehensive write up which is worth checking out - it sums up the day well:

Somehow facebook managed to delete this event for the Carcass, Napalm Death, Extortion tour, so if you're on fb get over there and join the event to stay in the loop!
This weekend sees a worthy event in Perth, so everyone pull ya finger out and get down to the show. If you or anyone you know has been affected by depression or mental health issues (and that probably covers everyone) then you know it's a good cause to support.
Plus there are a bunch of cool metal bands playing = no down sides!
Check out the gig details here or join the facebook event:
Listen up Perth metal bands - here's an opportunity not to be missed, if you're interested in getting a leg up with some extra promotion, and the chance to win some cold hard cash and other prizes then check it out.
WAM is having it's Song Of The Year competition and they contacted me to spread the word to the metal crew as they haven't had as many metal bands enter as they'd like. So for you industrious types out there, get on it because it sounds like your chances are pretty good. Better be quick though - the deadline has been extended to midday this Friday the 19th of December.
With a record amount of prizes being offered this year – over $40,000, including $11,000 in cash! – this year’s Song Of The Year is one of Australia’s most rewarding music competitions – and hence WA’s biggest career launchpad opportunity for artists. A reminder also that your song doesn't need to be professionally recorded - it can be an unreleased song or demo that you're hoping to have professionally recorded. As long as it's a great song then it's in with a chance!
Head over to http://wam.org.au/song-year-prizes/ to check out the prizes and for more info.
